World War II Veteran Visits B-17 Sentimental Journey

Mesa, AZ, June 10, 2020 - World War II veteran Claude Jenkins was a waist gunner in B-17s during the war. Last week he came to see CAF Airbase Arizona’s B-17 Sentimental Journey at a tour stop in St. George, Utah. Jenkins was able to add his signature to the bomb bay of the aircraft, where dozens of World War II veterans have added their name. He took a moment to tell us a little about what that meant to him.

The Commemorative Air Force has flown World War II warbirds for more than 60 years. We feel that aircraft are meant to be flown. Sometimes people ask about us why not keep the aircraft inside, preserved, and as static exhibits. This is #WhyWeFly.

CAF Airbase Arizona’s Flying Legends of Victory Tour is happening now. For more information visit www.azcaf.org/tour
