NAEC TO HOST GIRLS IN AVIATION DAY

Dallas, TX (August 15, 2022) The North Texas Chapter of Women in Aviation (WAI) will once again hold their annual event, Dallas’ Girls in Aviation Day, at the Henry B. Tippie National Aviation Education Center (NAEC). The event will be on September 24, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is free for girls ages 8 to 18 and their chaperones.

Attendees will enjoy over a dozen interactive stations, a variety of aircraft to explore, and an opportunity to speak with female aviation professionals. The event will conclude with guest speaker Stephanie Chung, the first African American president in private aviation and current Chief Growth Officer of Wheels Up.

High School students can participate in the VIP Program which will offer unique small group experiences. Some of the experiences include hands-on training in real-world navigation and mechanical basics, face-to-face Q&A sessions with aviation professionals in various roles, pre-flight walkthroughs, and flight planning with an actual airplane.

About Girls in Aviation Day: Since WAI’s first annual international Girls in Aviation Day in 2015, the annual WAI event has grown every year since its first gathering of 32 events and 3,200 participants. In 2019, GIAD met more than 20,000 attendees participating in 119 events in 18 countries. In 2020––owing to COVID-19––WAI launched version 1 of the Aviation for Girls (AFG) App with hours of educational content reaching thousands of girls from more than 60 countries. Last year’s GIAD reached nearly 10,000 participants at 85 individual events presented worldwide. While most events were held in person, many were organized for virtual gatherings using the AFG App and additional video content.
