D-Day Doll: Into Battle and Back
Online Event From the beaches of Normandy to the frozen battlefields of Bastogne, the C-53 Skytrooper D-Day Doll was there. The aircraft played a vital role in some of World War II's most important Allied operations. Flying with the 72nd Troop Carrier Squadron, this aircraft helped deliver troops into battle, tow gliders during D-Day, and participate in Operation Market Garden and the relief of Bastogne.
In this episode of CAF Warbird Tube, we explore the remarkable wartime history of D-Day Doll, the often-overlooked contributions of troop carrier crews, and the Inland Empire Wing's efforts to keep this genuine World War II veteran flying more than 80 years later.
