Mid-South Airshow
Presented by the Commemorative Air Force, the B-17 Flying Fortress Texas Raiders is one of only three remaining that are actively flying in the U.S. today. This aircraft was the first Flying Fortress to be restored solely for the sake of education and use as a flying museum, and is an accurately restored B-17, bristling with machine guns and featuring period-specific equipment.
The aircraft are hosted by the Mid-South Airshow, at Millington Memphis Airport, 8182 Hornet Avenue, Millington, TN 38053. Attending CAF aircraft will also include the popular SNJ / T6 Texan advanced trainer in which thousands of airmen trained for combat, and a twin engine Navy transport in which the whole family can fly together. All three warbirds will offer cockpit tours during the show, and public flights beginning Friday afternoon and continuing before and after Saturday's and Sunday's airshow performance times.
Airshow attendees can visit the aircraft on Saturday and Sunday outside of flying times, and for nominal admission can take a B-17 cockpit tour that includes commentary from crew members. Fans who want the ultimate Flying Fortress experience can make a reservation now for one of the limited number of 20-minute flights on the classic aircraft.
Admission to tour the B-17 is $10 per adult, $5 for children under 12, and $20 for a family of up to five. Warbird flights start as low as $100 on the Navy transport, $380 on the T6 trainer, and at $495 on the B-17.
