April 29, 2026 For decades, the Commemorative Air Force has been recording firsthand stories from veterans, volunteers, family members, and witnesses to history—stories that go far beyond the cockpit.
In this episode of CAF Warbird Tube, Nathan Huegen, Vice President of Education for the CAF, joins us to discuss the CAF’s extensive oral history collection held by the American Airpower Heritage Museum and the ongoing work to digitize and preserve these voices for future generations. This show will include clips from several of the oral histories as part of the discussion.
These recordings capture personal experiences of war, service, community, and remembrance—offering a deeply human perspective on history as it was lived. This conversation explores why oral histories matter, how they’re being safeguarded, and what it takes to ensure these stories remain accessible and meaningful long into the future.
