The Barnstormer and the Lady
March 21, 2026 Join us at the Henry B. Tippie National Aviation Education Center for a special evening celebrating one of aviation’s most remarkable partnerships. Author Jennifer Pitt, granddaughter of aviation pioneers Walter and Olive Ann Beech, will be at the NAEC to share the story behind her book "The Barnstormer and the Lady" and sign copies for guests. Walter Beech was a daring barnstormer and aviation visionary. Olive Ann Beech was the steady strategist and financial mind who helped build Beech Aircraft—and after Walter’s sudden death, led the company for more than 30 years. Under her leadership, Beech Aircraft became a powerhouse of American aviation, producing aircraft that trained more than 40,000 navigators, gunners, bombardiers, and pilots during World War II and helping transform Wichita into the Aircraft Capital of the World.
