Commemorative Air Force Joins AOPA in National Pause for General Aviation Safety

DALLAS, Texas (August 26, 2025)Safety Pause Concludes Soon — Add Your Voice The 2025 Safety Pause has been more than an internal initiative — it has become a community effort. Thanks to the collaboration between Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) and organizations like the Commemorative Air Force (CAF), Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), the Association of Professional Warbird Operators (APWO), and others, we’ve expanded awareness of the importance of proactive safety culture throughout the entire warbird community.

The CAF has supported the initiative by sharing resources, amplifying messaging, and encouraging participation across our membership. Together, our organizations are ensuring that this Safety Pause isn’t just a checklist exercise but a meaningful opportunity to reflect, learn, and strengthen safety practices across operations.

We are proud to see such broad engagement from CAF members, units, and the larger warbird community. As this Safety Pause program comes to a close, the impact of these conversations will continue shaping our safety standards long into the future. There is still time to participate.

Here’s how it works:
1. Visit https://www.gasafe.org/caf
2. Pick Your Flight Profile – Choose the type of flying you do most.
3. Engage with Tailored Safety Resources – Dive into materials built for your type of operation.
4. Complete a Quick 15-Question Quiz – Earn FAAST WINGS credit and receive a digital safety badge.

The National Pause for General Aviation Safety invites every GA pilot in America to dedicate just a few minutes to reflect on their personal commitment to safety and to explore valuable resources tailored to their flying activities. By participating, pilots can earn FAA WINGS credit and take part in an industry-wide effort to keep our skies safer.

“Our commitment to preserving aviation heritage goes hand in hand with maintaining the highest standards of safety for our pilots, crews, and the public. We are eager to be part of this important initiative and encourage every pilot—whether flying vintage warbirds or modern GA aircraft—to take a moment to refocus on safety.”

Thanks to advancements in cockpit technology, pilot training, and an unwavering dedication to safety, the general aviation accident rate has been on a steady decline for over three decades. In 2024, GA experienced its safest year on record. Yet, many avoidable accidents still occur—reminding us of the importance of programs like this.

Participation is simple and accessible. Pilots can visit www.GAsafe.org/CAF or scan the provided QR code to find safety topics that align with their flying experiences. The program is also designed to foster group learning, making it ideal for EAA chapters, FAASTeam seminars, flying clubs, flight schools, universities, and corporate flight departments. Most sessions can be completed in 10–30 minutes, offering convenient yet impactful opportunities to sharpen pilots’ focus and commitment to safety.
