Mercy Mission for Mississippi

Madison, Mississippi (March 29, 2023) - A tornado struck Rolling Fork, Miss., on March 24, cutting a 104-mile path across the state. Rolling Fork was one of the hardest hit cities by the tragic tornado, which left a trail of destruction. On Monday, Steve Fryman from Commemorative Air Force, Indiana Wing, called a fellow member in Mississippi and asked what they needed and how he could help. Mississippi Wing member Brandon Stevens got a list together, and a plan to perform a mercy mission by some of the CAF aircraft participating in the Airpower History Tour stop in Pensacola, Fla. On March 29, these CAF airplanes, the Indiana Wing’s SNB BOB and B-24 Diamond Lil, brought medicine, water, trash bags, baby wipes, and other needed supplies to the airport in Jackson, Mississippi. Glenn Olsen, a member of the B-29/B-24 Squadron, was instrumental in putting the plan together. In just four hours, the group raised $1,300, which was used to purchase nearly 2,000 pounds of supplies. The combined efforts of the Mississippi Wing, Indiana Wing, and the B-29/B-24 Squadron are greatly appreciated.
