WWII Heritage Day Spotlights WWII and the Space Age

PEACHTREE CITY, GA. (Oct. 2, 2022) – WWII Heritage Day, the oldest and largest WWII and 1940s-themed event in Georgia, offers a full day of aviation-related activities on Oct. 8, 2022, at Atlanta Regional Airport – Falcon Field in Peachtree City. Presented by Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Airbase Georgia, this year’s event focuses on World War II and The Dawn of the Space Age.

World War II aircraft, military vehicles, food trucks, re-enactors, living history displays and expert presentations fill the schedule from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The programs will recognize how America recovered from the war and used promising new technology to usher in what is commonly referred to as “The Space Age”. The day includes a costume contest, warbird rides and demonstrations, including aircraft restoration. Following the day-time activities, a celebration swing dance will be onsite in the hangar, with music until 7 p.m. All events will take place at the CAF Airbase Georgia headquarters, 1200 Echo Ct., Peachtree City, Ga. Visitors are encouraged to dress in their favorite World War II or space-age attire to enjoy the day and the dance.

Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for ages 11-17. Children 10 and under are free. Visitors who stay for the hangar dance will be able to buy snacks and beverages. Parking will be provided at the nearby Cooper Lighting Solutions lot on Highway 74, with shuttle bus service to the airport and back until 5 p.m.

“We want visitors of all ages to enjoy a full day of fun and educational activities as part of our 18th annual WWII Heritage Day,” said Airbase Leader Joel Perkins.
